ASTS Awarded Engineering and Mission Operations Support Services V (EMOSS V) Contract
Beltsville, Md. (PRWEB) July 20, 2016 -- The National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) National Environmental Satellite, Data, and Information Service (NESDIS) has awarded ASRC Federal’s subsidiary, ASTS, the Engineering and Mission Operations Support Services V (EMOSS V) contract. The base-plus-four-option-years contract has an estimated value of $42 million. Work will be performed primarily at the NOAA Satellite Operations Facility (NSOF) in Suitland, Maryland.

The NESDIS satellites operate on two main orbits, polar and geostationary, to form NOAA’s Integrated Observing System, which furnishes crucial information about weather, climate change and other environmental systems to the nation. NESDIS has also taken on the challenge of providing solar storm detection with a new solar observatory at the Lagrange (L1) orbital point. ASTS will provide real-time mission operations systems engineering support to allow NOAA to achieve its mission while working transition to operations to integrate and support real-time operations to the upcoming polar and geostationary follow on systems.
