Inn and Spa at Loretto, A Destination Hotel, Announces GM Tom McCann to Serve as Santa Fe Lodgers' Association’s President
Santa Fe, New Mexico (PRWEB) August 02, 2016 -- The Inn and Spa at Loretto announces that its general manager, Tom McCann, has been nominated to serve as the Santa Fe Lodgers' Association’s President effective immediately.
“I am honored to work as the Lodging Association’s leader during a time of increased focus on the value of tourism here in New Mexico,” said McCann. "Tourism is a powerful economic engine and it is important that destinations throughout the state stay on trend in promoting themselves. At the Lodging Association we aim to give the tools needed to lodgers everywhere to do just that.”
McCann will serve as president for a term of one year. In addition to focusing its efforts on improving the hospitality industry statewide with events such as ongoing training, seminars and conferences, the board has recently developed the “Michael Cerletti Scholarship Award” in honor of the first Secretary of the New Mexico Tourism Department.
“Cerletti was a respected leader in our community and I am honored to announce that we have worked with Katherine Fox of the Santa Fe Community College to give away three $500 scholarships to deserving students,” said McCann.
The tourism and hospitality industry is the second largest employment sector in the state behind oil and gas production. Tourism brings in more than $6 billion each year in revenue to the state and employs nearly 100,000 people, according to the state Tourism Department.
McCann became the Inn’s GM in April 2014. His past work includes positions at properties such as the River Terrace Inn, Napa, Tenaya Lodge at Yosemite, Vail Resorts’ The Village at Breckenridge, Mountain Thunder Lodge in Breckenridge, the Hyatt Regency Beaver Creek, The Ritz-Carlton, Aspen and Palm Springs’ Maxim’s De Paris Suites Hotel.
