Des Hague of Froozer® Welcomes Robin Michel to Froozer® Board of Advisers
Denver, CO (PRWEB) August 16, 2016 -- Today, Froozer® Chairman of the Board and CEO, Des Hague, announced the addition of Robin Michel to the Froozer® Board of Advisers. Michel is a senior executive with verifiable, year-after-year success achieving revenue, profit, and market growth within the highly competitive and quickly evolving retail food industry. She has had a distinguished career of successfully leading retailers such as 7-eleven, HEB, Sears and Giant Foods.
"I have personally worked alongside Robin at 7-Eleven where I witnessed first hand the tremendous influence and success she generated," stated Hague. "Robin's knowledge of the retail world and relationships developed over decades will be extremely beneficial to Froozer as we grow in the years ahead. We are thrilled to have her keen insights and input into our strategic planning," concluded Hague.
A strategic and agile leader, Michel specializes in rapidly transforming organizations into market/category leaders by modifying product mix, updating store design, hiring the best, and incorporating emerging trends such as fresh and organic, locally sourced, natural ingredients, and traceability. A foodie at heart, Michel combines this unique perspective on retail with extensive customer focus and natural business acumen to create a sustainable platform for growth based on loyal customer relationships and higher per-visit purchases.
Prior to joining Natural Markets Food Group, Michel held positions of increasing authority with multiple industry-leading companies, including Sears Holdings Corporation, Giant Food of Landover, Roundy’s, and 7-Eleven. After her early successes, Michel was tapped to foster innovation, lead product development, change customer perception, and develop internal processes, functions, and teams that also reduced operating expenses. Her key achievements during this time included: branded products and packaging for “grab and go” at 7-Eleven, designing and opening new locations for Roundy’s that supported transition from a wholesale organization with franchise operations to a wholly owned retail food organization, ending a six-year trend of negative sales/profits for Giant Food of Landover, and focusing Sears Holdings Grocery, Household, and Pharmacy operations on profitable departments while lowering cost of goods thru negotiations with major 3rd party partners.
Michel gained broad exposure to the retail grocery business immediately out of college, recruited first by The Kroger Company as Store Manager and quickly receiving a promotion to Produce Buyer and Chief produce merchant positions. After learning the basics of store success for 10-plus years, Michel moved to higher-profile positions with the H.E. Butt Grocery Company, including District Manager, VP of Operations, and VP of Sales, ultimately serving as Group Vice President over the $4 billion Drugstore Division.
Michel holds a Master of Science in Organizational Behavior from the University of Texas as well as a Bachelor of Science in Commerce from the University of Louisville. Constantly striving to expand her abilities as a manager and explore current business trends, Ms. Michel completed the Advanced Management Program at Harvard University. An active member of the industry, Michel sits on the Food Marketing Institute (FMI) Board of Directors and is a member of the Network of Executive Women.
“I’ve spent most of my life in the retail food business," said Michel before continuing, "I love it. It’s demanding. It’s ever changing. And the products that stores carry should all be as simple, beautiful, taste as good and be as good for you as Froozer! I’m a “foodie” at heart and believe that “we are what we eat!” and we have a responsibility as foodies to develop products that are natural, clean, and support US dietary guidelines as Froozer does," Michel concluded.
"Robin’s vast experience in the food industry will help propel Froozer to the next level," remarked Froozer President, Rich Naha. "She will help us continue to build out our world-class Board of Advisers."
"I’m thrilled to be asked to participate as Board Adviser for Team Froozer," said Michel. "The commitment that Froozer makes to each of us is that it is 'good for you; good for the environment; and good for our communities.' I can stand in support of that position every single day!”
