HS-UK Holds Successful ‘Improving Outcomes’ Courses in London
Harlow, Essex (PRWEB UK) 22 July 2016 -- Haag-Streit UK (HS-UK), the leading manufacturer and distributor of gold-standard optometry and ophthalmic equipment, recently hosted two further ‘Improving Outcomes’ Biometry Courses at the Royal College of Ophthalmologists (RCO) in London.
The two-day course took place on the 14th and 15th July and was designed to help nursing staff, technicians and experienced Ophthalmic Consultants get the most from their biometer. HS-UK delivered an exciting programme over the two days, with presentations from a number of invited speakers. The first day covered ‘Improving Outcomes’ standard biometry methods, while the second focused on more advanced techniques, including an introduction to the revolutionary Hill-RBF calculator.
Speakers for the event included; Mr David Sculfor, Consultant Optometrist at Stoke Mandeville Hospital and Mr Larry Benjamin, Consultant Ophthalmic Surgeon at Bucks Healthcare NHS Trust, both of whom are widely-recognised as experts in their field. The agenda included lectures on topics such as; ‘Good biometry practice’, ‘TORIC IOL surgery’ and ‘IOL power calculation’.
Each day featured a number of practical, hands-on workshops supporting a range of subjects, including; ‘Editing IOL data’, ‘Immersion ultrasound’ and ‘TORIC IOL planning’. Delegates were able to claim 7.5 CPD points for their attendance on each day.
The LENSTAR LS 900 biometer was present throughout the two-days and hands-on demonstrations were available for delegates. The LENSTAR provides nine measurements-per-scan in fewer than 30 seconds, improving accuracy and accelerating workflow. It offers more precise K readings than any other optical biometer and all standard IOL predictions are built into the software.
Delegate feedback was extremely positive, with many commenting on the high quality of the content, speakers and venue.
Grant Duncan, HS-UK Clinical Training Manager, commented, “I was delighted with the amount of positive feedback from delegates over the two-day course. The contribution made by both speakers and delegates helped to make the courses an overwhelming success. I was also very impressed with the quality of the venue and the professionalism of the RCO team.”
