It would be great it we could say 'Ask and though shalt receive' about every new product, but this is one of those things that hit a critical mass of requests.

This month the online color printing company DocuCopies.com added European standard sizes to the website for their most popular products.
While these international metric sizes are standard in most countries, most American customers prefer their paper in inches. But this is not always the case. For example, customers wanting A4 size paper can now choose 8.27" x 11.69" as their finished paper size.
This comes at a cost, since these must be trimmed down from 11" x 17", but the management is confident DocuCopies will still win the day for value with their low-cost color printing prices.
"It is unusual for someone to specifically request this size," says Jeff Corbo, the company's vice president. "More often it's because they had their files setup by someone in another country and they really want a letter-sized sheet. But whatever their reason, we want to make it easy for them to order and know what they're getting."
They also added 3" x 5" as a standard postcard size after noticing an increase in custom requests for this cutting.
"It would be great if we could say 'Ask and though shalt receive' about every new product, but this is one of those things that hit a critical mass of requests and didn't require purchasing anything we didn't already have," Corbo said of the new postcard sizes. "That being said, we encourage anyone to make their voice heard about new product suggestions."
