Blood Bank Computer Systems, Inc. (BBCS) today announced the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) has declared 510(k) clearance for ABO Express™, Version 2.0.0, and it is also available for general distribution. This marks the last product in a series of FDA clearances for ABO Suite™.
ABO Express is an extremely desirable solution for blood centers that are looking for innovative ways to reduce their costs and improve processing. The key features of ABO Express include a Graphical User Interface accessible through a web browser, seamless communication with ABO Wheels and paperless donation records. ABO Express also allows for third-party plug-ins that can be directly connected to the system, creating a fully integrated environment.
“We are thrilled to be offering the ABO Suite as a full graphical user interface to our client blood centers. The innovation of ABO Suite is going to substantially change the way blood is collected and provided to patients in need. Community blood centers will now be completely paperless and the donor’s experience will be enhanced by using the cutting-edge technology of ABO Suite,” says Brian Forbis, Vice President of BBCS.
“At our center, we are continually looking at processes and innovative ways to improve them. BBCS has been the partner willing to push those limits with us. In doing so, we have been able to become more resource efficient and, ultimately, position ourselves to better serve our community. We are looking forward to ABO Express 2.0 and taking advantage of the additional features and improvements it will bring to our operations,” says Marshall Cothran, CEO of The Blood Center of Central Texas.
BBCS would like to thank our two Pilot Program participants, Blood Bank of Delmarva and The Blood Center of Central Texas, who have paved the way for ABO Suite.
