Worldmark Global Business and Economy Issues, a book developed jointly by Thomas Riggs & Company of Missoula, Montana, and Gale (Cengage Learning) of Farmington Hills, Michigan, was recognized twice in 2016 by the American Library Association. The book won the annual RUSA award, given to outstanding reference sources. It was the third time in the last four years that a book developed by Thomas Riggs & Company won the RUSA award. Worldmark Global Business and Economy Issues was also the sole honorable mention for the Dartmouth Medal, which “honors the creation of a reference work of outstanding quality and significance.”
Worldmark Global Business and Economy Issues is intended for students in International Baccalaureate (IB) and AP courses. It follows closely the IB syllabus outlines for business management and economics.
The editor’s note states, “Business management and economics are two related subjects in the IB academic area ‘Individuals and Societies,’ which also includes geography, global politics, history, information technology in a global society, philosophy, psychology, social and cultural anthropology, and world religions. Together these subjects help explain the experience and behavior of people, the environments in which they live, and their histories.”
