Operation Homefront Back-To-School BrigadeTM for Military Children Underway
SAN ANTONIO, Texas (PRWEB) July 27, 2016 -- Many families across the country are still enjoying their summer break, but Operation Homefront is already headed back to school. Through Aug. 20, Operation Homefront is welcoming thousands of military families into communities across the country through its annual Back-to-School BrigadeTM, collecting and distributing backpacks and other school supplies. Back-to-School BrigadeTM has delivered over 230,00 backpacks and school supplies to military children nationwide since the program started in 2008.
Thanks to generous donations from Dollar Tree patrons, SAIC, Honda Financial Services, and generous supporters, the national nonprofit Operation Homefront has already started distributing over 30,000 backpacks and necessary school supplies at 51 Back-to-School BrigadeTM events nationwide.
“Tight family budgets get stretched when our kids head back to school, but for our military and veteran families, there are a number of other pressures that make this time of year particularly challenging,” said Brig. Gen. (ret) John I. Pray Jr., president and CEO of Operation Homefront. “The good news is Operation Homefront is here – as we have been for the past eight years – to help with our Back-to-School BrigadeTM program. Each one of the over 230,000 backpacks we have filled with school supplies and delivered to a military child reflects our collective ‘thank you’ from caring individual Americans and corporate partners for all military families do to protect the freedoms we enjoy daily.”
Operation Homefront supporters may continue to donate school supplies to military children, as they have done for eight summers. The supplies can be purchased through Aug. 11 and placed in collection boxes located at the nearly 6,000 Dollar Tree stores nationwide. Additionally, anyone may assist military families in any of three other ways:
• Work with Operation Homefront to hold a backpack and school supplies drive at your office.
• Make a tax-deductible donation at http://www.operationhomefront.net to support the current needs of area military families, including new Back-to-School BrigadeTM needs.
• Sign-up to be an Operation Homefront volunteer throughout the year.
The Back-to-School BrigadeTM is part of Operation Homefront’s 1Military1Family campaign throughout the month of July. Operation Homefront knows that every community is only as strong as the people and families who live there. That’s why we provide a variety of programs and services that help military families feel more connected to people and businesses in their community. Americans wishing to show their support for our military families can learn more at OperationHomefront.net/1Mil1Fam, and join in online with the hashtag #1Mil1Fam.
