EnergyIndex launches cost price business energy for UK SMEs
Birmingham, West Midlands (PRWEB UK) 2 August 2016 -- Business energy price comparison service, EnergyIndex, has launched a new online service for UK Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs) to access business energy at cost price.
Research undertaken by EnergyIndex has shown that on average UK SMEs pay 0.599p/kWh* in sales and marketing costs alone in their business energy bills.
EnergyIndex Founder James Constant explains:
“The outcome of the CMA, much criticised in parts, has seen a general push for more market engagement. However, with gas prices for UK SMEs around 3p/kWh customers engaging in the energy market and believing they are accessing better deals, are unwittingly paying a premium of 20% for sales and marketing costs alone.
“That is unacceptable at the best of times but in a period of economic uncertainty such as Brexit, UK businesses simply cannot afford to carry on with old familiar ways if it means throwing away such sums.”

EnergyIndex’s new service enables UK SMEs to create their own dedicated business energy management account allowing them to see at a glance the amount they are paying for their energy and the rates available to them in the market.
EnergyIndex is supporting the launch of this service with the #checkyourbillchallenge campaign enabling UK SMEs and home-based businesses to benchmark their current contract, with no obligation to purchase.
Constant explains:
“One of the problems of business energy is actually one of its strengths. Businesses are required to remain in contract for fixed periods -- meaning, unlike domestic customers they cannot hop in and out of a deal for better rates at regular intervals. That has often been seen as a negative, but in fact, it creates real opportunity.”
“By utilising the EnergyIndex portal a business can benchmark, identify and select a cost price contract and secure it for their business at the click of a button whether their contract ends in 2 months or 2 years.“
“Contracting for cost price energy years in advance, enabling businesses to turn energy into a fixed, predictable cost, is now a reality.”
The EnergyIndex website and portal has been designed to allow businesses to interact with their business energy needs when they want, how they want and with whom they want. Its online basis means its services remain open 24/7, 52 weeks a year.
EnergyIndex Founder James Constant reveals:
“For the last 18 years, since the opening of competition, brokers have been a force for driving engagement in the energy market -- however, it is clear that although savings have been delivered, that has come at a cost”
“Our new website and online portal first and foremost puts the customer at the centre of their business energy. Equally however, it’s designed to be as light touch and efficient as possible with all the pertinent facts at a glance with clear and transparent fees for the contract options available. EnergyIndex is truly putting businesses in control of their energy costs. “
