The Levenson Foundation Hosts a Dallas Town Hall Event on the Opiate Epidemic Sponsored By Origins Behavioral HealthCare and Transcend Recovery Community
(PRWEB) July 28, 2016 -- The Levenson Foundation, based in Austin, Texas, a global philanthropic foundation whose work focuses on the treatment of addiction, trauma and psychiatric challenges in the world’s most disadvantaged populations, announced today the launch of its Town Hall Series with an event designed to educate the Dallas Fort Worth (DFW) community about the growing threat of the opiate epidemic in America. The event will include a keynote speech by retired NFL quarterback and recovering addict, Ryan Leaf, who serves as the Program Ambassador for the Transcend Recovery Community. This event is made possible through the generous sponsorship of Origins Behavioral HealthCare and Transcend Recovery Community.
Benjamin Levenson, founder of The Levenson Foundation, says, “We are delighted to have the support and participation of Ryan Leaf as we launch our Town Hall-styled events. We also want to strongly recognize the sponsorship of both Transcend and Origins Behavioral HealthCare who strongly support our efforts to educate, foster discussion and fight the opiate epidemic in DFW, communities across America and across the world.”
Ryan Leaf, former 2nd overall pick in the 1998 NFL draft, states, “Over the past 10 years, I have had a very public battle with an addiction to opiates and have, fortunately, surrendered and accepted a life of recovery that is both healthy and sustainable. It is important for me to share my story and be of service so that the millions of people currently battling addiction can relate to someone who has been in their same position and come to understand that there is a solution and that they don’t have to do it alone!”
The August 20th event will take place at Lovers Lane United Methodist Church, located at 9200 Inwood Road in Dallas, Texas and will feature the following distinguished speakers:
Ben Levenson, Chairman of The Levenson Foundation and Founder of Origins Behavioral HealthCare, will be the Master of Ceremonies.
