New Membership Reveals Secrets of How Top-Earning Interior Designers are Creating Wealth
(PRWEB) August 01, 2016 -- The Edge is a membership founded by university professor and design industry business expert, David Shepherd. For over a decade, Shepherd has been studying the top 5% of design firms, large and small, to discover why some interior designers succeed so spectacularly, while others do little more than create hard-working jobs for themselves.
“It turns out that there are some foundational principles that all the top-earning designers share,” Shepherd said. “In some cases, they are tactics and techniques that I created, and in many others, they are simply what I call the ‘immutable laws,’ or methods always present when cash flow is strong and net profits are high.”
For over twenty years, Shepherd has split time between the faculties of two top business schools (teaching small firm finance and strategy) and working directly with interior designers. Beginning in 2004, Shepherd formed a national coaching group of design principals called the Best Practices Network, or BPN.
For years, BPN members shared their business and personal stories with Shepherd and with each other. They also had the option of attending some twenty-four live events that were held in cities from Las Vegas to Cancun, to New York and Los Angeles under the “Business of Design” brand.
The results were no less than life-changing as the typical BPN member remained a member for over seven years, until Shepherd disbanded the BPN to return to the classroom.
“No one has ever studied our industry with the intellectual firepower of David Shepherd,” said Carol Little, interior designer of Roseville, CA. “When you combine that with his engaging teaching style and the fun of the network, it was an unprecedented learning experience.”
Interior designer Phil Norman of Torrance, CA, said that it was undeniable that membership in the BPN had, “…added six figures to my bottom line.”
And highly successful designer Debbie Baxter of San Antonio called the BPN nothing less than “…divine intervention,” giving it much of the credit for her growth from three to twenty employees during her membership.
Despite this, Shepherd worried that the BPN was lacking something. “The downside of the BPN,” Shepherd explained, “was that it was somewhat expensive, meaning that most of my members, while making dramatic improvements, were already in the top 5% when they joined. I have always longed for a way to get the proven methods I have at my fingertips into the hands of every interior designer who is serious about creating a great future for their families and themselves.”
The result of Shepherd’s quest is The Edge—an extremely affordable monthly membership that gives designers access to insightful, thought-provoking best practices covering areas such as pricing, sales, technology, management, cash flow, strategy and more.
As a member of The Edge, designers receive a monthly printed newsletter filled with David Shepherd’s one-of-a-kind insight and infused with his unique ability to educate, entertain, and inspire, all while teaching the essential business concepts that few designers learned in school.
Members also receive a monthly audio CD called, “Crossover Strategies.” Perhaps the most popular benefit during the tenure of the Best Practices Network, these audio tracks are designed to create incredibly innovative and breakthrough ideas…the sort that can make all of the difference.
And, members gain access to a new online course each and every month. From Shepherd’s classic “8 Steps” course (which it is believed to have generated more profits for interior designers than any other course in history!) to courses on finance, strategy, business development, and more, these online courses are powerful tools.
“When you look at the triad we provide each month,” Shepherd says, “you’ll see that we’re tapping into the three primary learning modes—reading, listening, and doing. Just one idea each month could mean thousands to the bottom line of the typical designer whether running a 20-person firm, or a sole proprietorship. And all for less than I spend at Starbucks every month!”
To ensure that designers understand the power of membership, The Edge is offering a two-month trial absolutely free. In addition, upon starting a trial membership, designers will receive $388 worth of bonus material at no charge. These include The Path: An Inspirational Course in Prosperity, The Foundations: Essential Principles for Creating Wealth, The 8 Steps Course, and samples of The Edge Newsletter and the Crossover Strategies CD.
