BraunAbility Acquires Transfer Seat Base Leader B&D Independence, Inc.
Winamac, IN (PRWEB) August 01, 2016 -- Today BraunAbility announced it has acquired B&D Independence, Inc., uniting two global leaders in the automotive mobility industry.
As the global leader of wheelchair accessible vehicles, BraunAbility recognized a natural opportunity with B&D Independence, the world leader in power transfer seat bases, to improve the ability for individuals to easily transfer from a wheelchair to an accessible vehicle’s driver or passenger seat.
“B&D is a tremendously respected name in the mobility industry,” said Nick Gutwein, BraunAbility CEO. “This partnership will allow us to collaborate on more customer-centered design, resulting in a mobility experience that is more intuitive and effortless for our customers.”
BraunAbility will provide added resources to support the growth and expansion of B&D’s product range with a continued focus on innovation and improving the way wheelchair users interact with their accessible vehicles.
“Our companies have grown and evolved into world leaders in mobility because our commitment to improving customer lives guides our decisions,” said John Evans, CEO of B&D Independence, who will continue to provide oversight and management to the B&D operation. “We share a similar culture and core values, and I am confident our customers will benefit most of all from this partnership.”
B&D will continue to operate from its location in Mt. Carmel, Illinois, as a wholly-owned subsidiary of BraunAbility. B&D products will continue to be sold through its existing dealer network.
