Gilbert, AZ (PRWEB) August 02, 2016 -- Unicon, Inc., a leading IT consulting, services, and support provider specializing in open source for the education technology market, today welcomes Linda Feng to the Unicon team as a Software Architect. Linda has deep experience in student information systems (SIS) integration, open standards, and big data/ learning analytics. She will be an integral contributor to Unicon’s expanding presence in the learning analytics market, helping Unicon to continue in successful delivery of enterprise software solutions to higher education institutions and organizations.
“Unicon is proud to have Linda Feng join our team,” said John C. Blakley, CEO, Unicon, Inc. “Linda combines her expertise in enterprise software and integration with a strong set of strategic leadership skills that will enhance Unicon’s current learning analytics and integration service offerings.”
During the last several years, Linda served as co-chair of the IMS Global Learning Consortium Learning Information Services Working Group, helping to bring a new Enterprise interoperability standard to market. Recognized as someone who strives to achieve consensus among diverse voices, Linda’s leadership led to the formation of the IMS Privacy Task Force to tackle the important task of how to ensure that learning applications provide information about what data is being collected and shared. Most recently she spent time at Instructure®, during which she was instrumental in launching a learning analytics offering for the Canvas® learning management system (LMS) and made significant contributions to the IMS OneRoster and Caliper standards efforts.
“Unicon team members are known for a deep expertise in key areas, especially open standards. They’ve earned the reputation as a trusted advisor to many suppliers and institutions, performing valuable work behind the scenes,” said Linda Feng, Software Architect, Unicon, Inc. “I’m thrilled at the opportunity be part of this team, solving problems for educational institutions in the areas of analytics, data integration, and open standards.”
Linda spent over 20 years in database server and applications product development at Oracle®, most recently serving as Software Architect in Oracle's Student Products Division. Early in her career at Oracle, Linda successfully managed the development of Oracle's Spatial Data Option technology, integrating it into the Oracle 7 server architecture. Her work with this project earned her a patent for multidimensional indexing techniques present in Oracle's Spatial Cartridge today. Linda has also guided numerous application development projects ranging from Oracle Public Sector Financials to Oracle Student Systems.
Linda has also invested time in the Apereo Foundation’s Sakai Project, playing a role in the integration between the Oracle Student Administration Integration Pack (SAIP) and the open source Sakai LMS. This project allowed higher education institutions seamless integration between multiple types of Student Information Systems and Sakai. Unicon partnered with Oracle in the completion of this integration, known as the Sakora Project.
