CharLeda Greene’s new book, Fatema and the Shine Stories, ($10.99, paperback, 9781498452687; $5.99, e-book, 9781498452694) is book 1 of an exciting new series that will entertain young readers with short, light-hearted true stories of rescued pets. Each story has a magical flare of spirituality added to them through Fatema, a unique puppy Nina rescues – a puppy that has a powerful “Shine” all around her when she sleeps. Nina soon discovers there is magic in the Shine; Fatema can send thoughts to Nina’s mind and can also hear her thoughts. Nina and Fatema work together with this special magic to help unwanted pets rehabilitate and get new forever homes. The fun-to-read stories encourage readers to be guided by the spirit within and let the Shine light their way. Youngsters will learn how to look for Him and at the same time, understand the importance of animal rescue. This new book series is sure to be a favorite of animal lovers of all ages.
“First I want children to realize Jesus is always with them,” states the author. “Next, having rescued animals, I believe to prevent the ‘throw-away pet mentality’ that currently exists in societies across the world, we have to instill in children at an early age – that pets are very much like us. They have the ‘Shine or light’ in them as described in the Bible. Pets should be treated as a member of the family and not discarded.”
CharLeda Greene’s experience working for a veterinarian catapulted her into the world of rescuing animals. Her love of purebred Persians, and the fact they had difficulty getting homes through shelters, inspired her to open the doors of Persians Plus Rescue. From there, she rescued domestic cats, dogs, rabbits, and rats. For many years, she operated the rescue through two pet stores and watched God’s action in finding homes for them on a daily basis. Each story in her book – the first book in a delightful series – is unique and very true.
The author is paying it forward by donating 25 percent of the net proceeds of this book to animal rescue work on behalf of the rescue animals that created these stories, and another 25 percent to fight child hunger on behalf of the children reading the stories. The concept of children helping children, and animals helping animals, through the sale of these stories is magical and comes from the Shine.
