Not only do the windows look beautiful inside and out, they’ll help the homeowners save money on energy costs for years to come.

Harvey Building Products, a manufacturer and distributor of quality building supplies in the Northeast, will have its vinyl windows featured at the This Old House 2016 Idea House. Harvey’s Tribute High-Performance windows were used throughout the project home, The Farmhouse at Emerson Green, which was built to achieve maximum energy efficiency at an affordable price.

This Old House teamed up with NOW Communities; Union Studio Architecture & Community Design; and Denise Enright Interior Design to create a modern twist on a classic design at Emerson Green, a net-zero development which is breathing new life into the decommissioned Fort Devens army base just northwest of Boston, MA. One of the first homes built in the mixed-use development, The Farmhouse at Emerson Green will average approximately half the energy use for a typical home of its size (1,900 s.f.) and was built with a focus on durable, low-maintenance materials – to make living easy for those with a busy lifestyle.

The 2016 Idea House features Harvey Tribute double hung, rolling and awning style windows featuring High Performance triple glazing which exceeds ENERGY STAR® qualifications. The windows carry a 20-year warranty on glass coverage and a lifetime warranty on parts and mechanisms. The team assembled by This Old House chose to add Harvey’s factory-applied Black exterior paint finish to tie in with the strong use of color and the classic yet contemporary design of the home.

"Our Tribute windows were a great match to achieve both the thermal performance required for the sustainability of this home and the aesthetic requirements of the design team," said Matt Samson, Harvey’s Vice President of Marketing. "Not only do the windows look beautiful inside and out, they’ll help the homeowners save money on energy costs for years to come."

Other sponsors of the 2016 Idea House include AZEK decking and James Hardie siding, both of which manufacture quality products distributed by Harvey.

The Farmhouse at Emerson Green will be featured in the October issue of This Old House magazine and showcased online in late September with a style guide, video house tour, online galleries, and tips from the project’s experts on energy efficiency and sustainable design. This Old House television will also air a segment about the Idea House in fall 2016.
