Physical Systems Integration, Inc.’s (PSI) Turbine Warming System (TWS) Advances to Semi-Finals in 7th Annual Cleantech Challenge Mexico 2016 Competition in Mexico City
(PRWEB) August 10, 2016 -- Physical Systems Integration (PSI), along with partner Biosolventus, Inc., advance to the semi-final round of Cleantech Challenge Mexico (CTCM) 2016 – part of Global Cleantech Challenge, an international competition that promotes the internationalization of, and investment in, clean technology companies. Winning companies must demonstrate how their clean technology minimizes the impact on Mexico’s environment. PSI’s Turbine Warming System - comprised of turbine warming blankets and control systems – reduces warm turbine startup times by nearly 50% and eliminates cold starts altogether – thus supporting the sustainability goals of the Mexican energy industry by reducing turbine fuel burn and emissions – an exciting value proposition for power generators participating in the newly created, competitive spot market. Cleantech Challenge Mexico 2016 winners compete for private equity investment up to $30M USD along with IP protection, licensing, and marketing mentorship. Final winners will be announced in September, 2016.
“We are excited that Physical Systems Integration, Inc. (PSI), together with our partner, Bisolventus, Inc. – a provider of turbine warming systems globally – have been selected to advance to the semi-final round of the Cleantech Challenge Mexico competition in Mexico City for our Turbine Warming System, (TWS)” says Lyman Wilkes, SVP, Energy Asset Optimization for PSI.
“The global Steam Turbine Generation market is expected to reach $192 B by 2020 with a CAGR of 4.89%,” notes Toralf Hey of Biosolventus. “Turbine warming blankets and control systems reduce warm turbine startup times by nearly 50% and eliminate cold starts altogether – an exciting value proposition for power generators participating in the newly created, competitive spot market in Mexico. Also, the reduction in start times has a significant impact on fuel burn and an associated reduction in emissions, thus complying with the goals of the reform of the Mexican energy industry.”
A turbine warming system is a cost-effective way to alleviate many of the heat stresses and metal fatigue associated with generator cycling. A turbine warming system will maintain a uniform temperature gradient across the Steam Turbine vessel – alleviating component damage that occurs with differential expansion.
“PSI is excited to be part of such a prestigious competition,” notes Lyman Wilkes. “Cleantech Challenge Mexico competitions have resulted in the creation of 381 companies and generated 5300 new jobs over the past six years.”
Ten finalists will be chosen to compete in the Final Pitch to be held in Merida, Yucatan in September.
