Freshdesk Hires Top Executive from @WalmartLabs to Scale Product Development
San Bruno, California (PRWEB) August 10, 2016 -- Freshdesk, the leading cloud-based customer engagement software provider, has named S.T.S. Prasad as Senior Vice President of Engineering. This appointment is the latest in a series of strategic hires by Freshdesk that strengthens the company's leadership team and positions Freshdesk for continued success. In his new role, Prasad will be responsible for accelerating technology development and overseeing infrastructure enhancements to support Freshdesk’s growing customer base and aggressive product roadmap.
“Freshdesk has clarity of vision and sustained execution that is unique for a young company,” said S.T.S. Prasad, SVP of Engineering at Freshdesk. “My professional focus has been on developing technology platforms and scaling organizations to enable product and customer growth. Freshdesk is growing rapidly in both areas and my recent work at @WalmartLabs and Kosmix enable me to hit the ground running. I’m excited to join a world-class organization that is primed to do amazing things.”
Over the course of his career, S.T.S. Prasad has developed a strong reputation for successfully building technology platforms and scaling high performance engineering organizations at @WalmartLabs and Amazon.com. He also brings a strong entrepreneurial background having founded Aventeon, an enterprise mobile solutions company in 2001. He has held various leadership roles with Kosmix, Junglee, HCL and Sybase.
In addition to existing products Freshdesk and Freshservice, the company released two new products this year: Hotline - an in-app chat for mobile first businesses and Freshsales - a CRM product for high velocity sales earlier this year. Freshdesk also crossed 80,000 customers, doubling their customer count in just over a year.
“S.T.S. is deeply respected in the tech industry. He brings with him an in-depth understanding of startups, being a founder himself.” said Girish Mathrubootham, founder and CEO of Freshdesk. “We are launching new products and experiencing rapid growth across our portfolio of products. In this phase of our growth, his experience in leading large engineering teams and scaling technology will be highly valuable. We are excited to welcome him to the team.”
Most recently, Prasad was the Vice President of Engineering at @WalmartLabs, the eCommerce product and technology development center for Walmart. He was VP of Engineering at Kosmix, the social media analytics company, acquired by Walmart in 2011 to create @WalmartLabs. He helped scale @WalmartLabs from the original Kosmix team of 70 to over 2,000 employees globally in four years. At @WalmartLabs, Prasad and his teams focused on the development of big data-driven eCommerce business applications in competitive intelligence, algorithmic pricing, inventory planning, order sourcing and fulfillment optimization. Prasad holds a Master’s degree from the University of Wisconsin-Madison and a Bachelor’s in computer science from the Indian Institute of Technology, Madras.
