Chicago Company Marches To Indianapolis To Bring Its World Class Hearing Protection To Drum Corps Members, Their Families and Fans

We come to Indy to educate attendees about hearing wellness and the importance of using hearing protection to save the hearing of future generations.

The 125-member drum corps arrayed on the football field this week at Lucas Oil Stadium in Indianapolis are again expected to make quite the joyous noise. Each year, crashing cymbals, blaring horn lines and dozens of thunderous drummers combine to produce 20-minute presentations of pageantry in the Drum Corps International World Championship. The event takes place over three days, from August 11-13. The sound in the stands is one thing, but down on the field, many world-class drum corps wear Etymotic’s ETY•Plugs® or ER•20®XS High-Fidelity Earplugs, a piece of marching gear that has now become the standard for hearing protection around the world.

Etymotic is an Official Sponsor of the 2016 DCI World Championships and SoundSport International Music & Food Festival. “Education and hearing conservation are central to Etymotic’s mission, and we come to Indy to educate attendees about hearing wellness and the importance of using hearing protection to save the hearing of future generations” said Etymotic’s Global Operations Sales Manager, Charlene Clements. “Exposure to excessive noise from drumlines, marching bands, and music from a player’s own instruments can cause tinnitus (ringing in the ears) and permanent hearing loss depending on the duration of the sound. Fortunately, awareness is improving every year, and its fun meeting Drum Corps members and fans who now know the importance of protecting their hearing. It’s clear that Etymotic’s in the right place at DCI events!”

“Etymotic brings its best-in-class earplugs to places where people need hearing protection, whether at live music performances or in travel and sporting environments,” said Rick Carlson, Etymotic’s Customer Service Supervisor, who with Clements, will be promoting hearing wellness in the Etymotic booth at the DCI event (West Concourse) and SoundSport Festival (outdoors on Georgia Street and the Plaza).
