The Association of Pool & Spa Professionals (APSP) released the following statement today regarding the green pool at the Rio Olympics.

“APSP maintains that safe and healthy pool water is achieved by properly balanced and sanitized water that is monitored and tested throughout the day. It would be difficult to accurately diagnose the subject Olympic Diving Pool turning green overnight without specific information and test data. Rather than speculate, several test labs within the membership of the APSP stand ready to test the affected pool water and share its results and remedies with the Olympic aquatic leadership.”

The statement can be attributed to Dr. Joseph Laurino, Chairman, APSP Recreational Water Quality Committee.
