Palomar Modular Buildings To Construct Campus Expansion Buildings For UTPB STEM Academy
DeSoto, Texas (PRWEB) August 11, 2016 -- Palomar Modular Buildings to provide the UTPB STEM Academy with education modular buildings for a campus expansion. The STEM Academy is expanding their programs from 44 students per grade for a total of 308 students last year to 66 students per grade beginning this fall semester. To handle the extra students, teachers and staff the school will add 20,000 square feet of classroom space.
The UTPB STEM Academy awarded the construction contract to Palomar Modular Buildings in April 2016 with a delivery date that would allow the school to occupy the facility for the start of the school year on August 15. The majority of the construction is happening off-site at Palomar’s manufacturing facility in DeSoto, Texas. The facility expansion will be built in 23 modules that will be shipped to the campus for final assembly. Prefabrication plays a major role in allowing the facility to be finished in the 16-week construction schedule.
The UTPB STEM Academy is dedicated to implementing the newest and most promising practices in education with an emphasis in science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM). The foundational belief is that learning should be both engaging and social. Students work collaboratively on challenging curriculum, which in turn, enables them to experience engaging learning opportunities in order to develop conceptual knowledge and depth through project based learning (PBL).
