To handle the extra students, teachers and staff the school will add 20,000 square feet of classroom space.

The UTPB STEM Academy awarded the construction contract to Palomar Modular Buildings in April 2016 with a delivery date that would allow the school to occupy the facility for the start of the school year on August 15. The majority of the construction is happening off-site at Palomar’s manufacturing facility in DeSoto, Texas. The facility expansion will be built in 23 modules that will be shipped to the campus for final assembly. Prefabrication plays a major role in allowing the facility to be finished in the 16-week construction schedule.
