We are thrilled to have John as our CIO. His wide range of experience in information technology, leadership and operations will enable us to sustain our growth

Modus eDiscovery, a company that provides advanced eDiscovery and managed services to law firms and corporations, announced today the appointment of John Crites as Chief Information Officer. Crites will lead all software development and integration, technology infrastructure, information security and related accreditation initiatives to continue Modus’ positive momentum and growth.

Crites brings with him more than 30 years of technology and information security experience supporting global enterprises and emerging growth companies in private and public markets. He has a solid background in software development, private and cloud-based infrastructure development and technology auditing and security.

“We are thrilled to have John as our CIO,” says Steven Horan, Executive Chairman and CEO at Modus. “His wide range of experience in information technology, leadership and operations will enable us to sustain our growth. Our clients and the Modus team have embraced John. Changes in technology and access have mandated that IT capabilities, including security considerations, be part of the overall solution for our clients. We will be announcing additional capabilities in the upcoming months that will put Modus on the leading edge of the industry.”

Prior to joining Modus, Crites was the owner and CEO of Triangle WhiteHat Services, providing infrastructure architecture and information security certification services for companies such as the Fossil Group in Dallas, Texas, and Shenzhen, China, and Network Financial Printing in New York City. He also draws on the experience gained as the former CIO at RTI International and the former CEO of the Microelectronics Center of North Carolina (MCNC) and AuctionBlox LLC. Crites is the founder and CEO of the Triangle Technology Executives Council (TTEC), a nonprofit organization providing education and executive networking/collaboration for the community of CIOs and CTOs in the Research Triangle region of North Carolina.

A skilled communicator and leader, Crites emphasizes that people are the key to success in a technology-based organization. “Technology can be acquired with a purchase order,” he says. “Success requires a skilled team and open collaboration. Modus has that, and I am confident that we will continue to evolve and improve our service offerings.”

Crites is also energized by the senior management team now in place at Modus. “Under Steven’s leadership, the professional trust and open collaboration across the organization has been amazing to see and be a part of. We have talent, commitment and focus to serve our clients well throughout the company.”
