Compass, a technology-driven real estate platform, announces that the top-producing team of Matthew B. McCormick, Ellen Morrell, Ben Roth, Hadley Debevoise Allen, and Amy Allman Dean has joined the company. Mr. McCormick joins as Senior Managing Director of Sales & Agent Development at Compass’ Georgetown office where agents Ms. Morrell, Mr. Roth, Ms. Allen, and Ms. Dean will also be based. The team is among the most prolific in the Washington, DC real estate market, with more than sixty years of collective experience in both commercial and residential sales.
In addition to overseeing day-to-day operations at Compass’ Georgetown office, McCormick is tasked with further establishing Compass as a significant player in Washington’s high-end market and strengthening synergies with the firm’s luxury locales in New York City, Aspen, Miami, the Hamptons, Boston, and Los Angeles.
The Morrell-McCormick-Roth team ranks among The Wall Street Journal’s top teams in America, and consistently transacts more than $100 million in sales annually, specializing in the upper-bracket market in Northwest Washington, Northern Virginia, and Montgomery County Maryland. In 2015, the team brokered the sale of the most expensive condo of the year, a penthouse at the Ritz Carlton Residences in the District’s West End. Previously, the team sold the most expensive home in DC history, a property in Georgetown that sold for approximately $25 million.
“We are thrilled to be joining Compass,” said McCormick. “We believe the combination of marketing, technology and a terrific culture with top agents and staff is what sets Compass apart, and we’re excited to be a part of building the future of real estate in the DC market.”
Since entering the Washington, DC market in 2015, Compass DC has grown to become the #4 brokerage in the area, and has expanded to four offices, including a newly-opened regional headquarters in Logan Circle. The agent population has also increased from approximately 25 to 150. This year Compass DC had 15 agents and teams ranked among America’s Best Real Estate Agents according to REAL Trends, and 48 agents recognized by Washingtonian magazine as among Washington’s Best.
“The significant growth Compass has achieved in DC during the last year-and-a-half gives us the foundation to build a strong presence in the upper bracket market in DC, similar to what we have done in other markets like New York, the Hamptons, Aspen, Miami and LA.,” said Robert Reffkin, Compass Founder & CEO. “Going forward our focus will be on building the preeminent luxury real estate services company in the DC region, bolstered by our powerful network of offices and top agents across the country.”

Ms. Dean draws upon her strong marketing background and time spent as Director of the White House Visitors Office to provide best-in-class service to her clients.
