Delta Dental Insurance Company announced today that it has awarded a $10,000 grant to the SmileFaith Foundation to improve access to oral health. SmileFaith Foundation is a 501(c)3 nonprofit affiliated with the National Association for Medical and Dental that was formed in 2010.

SmileFaith Foundation provides free dental care, wellness programs and Christian life coaching and ministry to the underserved population in Florida. The foundation also provides mobile dental services and day-long, free community health events to Florida residents in need.

“SmileFaith is thrilled to be a recipient of the Delta Dental Community Care Foundation grant,” said Dr. Michael O’Carroll, executive director of the SmileFaith Foundation. “We have been able to assist so many individuals with a new smile and hope for the future.”

The grant, awarded by the Delta Dental Community Care Foundation, is one of several given in the state to help improve the oral health of underserved children and adults, particularly in rural locations where access to dental care may be limited. Launched in 2011, the foundation has given a total of $9.5 million in grants in several states, including more than $1.3 million in Florida.

"We are pleased to further extend the ability of clinics and organizations already providing dental care to those in need and who might otherwise go without, due to financial barriers."
