Exam Performance Announces Collaborations with Leading Educators
Los Angeles, CA (PRWEB) August 17, 2016 -- Exam Performance, the world’s foremost leader in strategies designed to improve academic and testing performance, today announced collaborations with Robert Cohen, former Administrator with the New York City Department of Education, and Christine Mason, Ph.D., Executive Director of the Center for Educational Improvement. Cohen and Mason will serve as the company’s educational development team. As Chief Education Officer and Chief Officer of Teaching and Learning, respectively, they will guide the design, implementation and evaluation of Exam Performance’s suite of academic and testing solutions.
The Exam Performance Program is intentionally designed to improve student confidence, motivation, and focus, thereby improving students’ academic and testing performance. Led by noted clinical psychiatrist Dr. Mark Goulston and Dr. Michael Gervais, a well-known expert in the field of sports psychology who works with top U.S. Olympic and professional athletes, the Exam Performance approach brings to the classroom the “champion mindset” that helps top-tier athletes perform at their best, "In the Zone," while under pressure.
“We know that great teaching helps to improve student outcomes in school and beyond. We want to also make sure that students at all levels have access to the emotional intelligence that eliminates test anxiety and helps them to develop a ‘champion mindset’ by building their confidence, focus, grit and resiliency,” said Exam Performance Founder and President Cyrus Hekmat. In welcoming the company’s educational leaders, Hekmat said, “Cognitive performance and emotional self-regulation work in tandem and we know that Cohen and Mason will help us to continue to revolutionize students’ test taking experiences.”
The Exam Performance Program was created to fill the gap in the education and test preparation markets. While there are a myriad of resources to address test preparation, in terms of content and the development of students’ academic skills and knowledge, few programs address self-efficacy skills. The Exam Performance Program is unique in that it walks students through the principles of peak-performance training and sets them up for maximum success on any test. Through the program, students develop high-quality habits that will help them practice strategies to remove mental barriers, manage their responses to stress, recover from mistakes, and prepare to perform their best during testing situations.
Cohen and Mason bring a wealth of experience in education, including their roles as teachers, school administrators, and researchers, to the Exam Performance team. Their insights in curriculum development, school leadership, special education, and 21st Century learning will lead the development of upcoming products and services being designed for a pilot implementation e-learning release. The upcoming product release is designed to support school districts and learning communities serving students in grades 4-12.
In describing their collaboration, Cohen said, “Having been an educator for 43 years, I know how the test preparation game works. Now, based on my experiences, I want to change the game by strengthening the mindset of students.” When asked about the importance of The Exam Performance Program in school settings, Mason said, “School principals and teachers have worked for the past decade to raise student test performance with an extraordinarily heavy focus on academics and a ‘teach-and-test’ approach. Yet, a student’s state of mind is often what stands in the way of improved performance. Just as Olympian athletes have benefited from calming their minds and visualizing their success, students can enhance their learning, their memory, and their test results through the techniques that Exam Performance brings to schools.”
