SAE International’s 2016 On-Board Diagnostics Symposium Offers Key Features for Attendees
WARRENDALE, Pa. (PRWEB) August 17, 2016 -- The SAE 2016 On-Board Diagnostics Symposium, announced the extensive list of special events offered during the 2016 show from September 13-15, 2016 in Indianapolis, IN. Comprised of an extensive solutions-oriented program, technical exhibition, networking opportunities and professional development training, these key features provide participants with opportunities to further their knowledge alongside fellow OBD industry members.
Dates and programming highlights for the Symposium are as follows:
OBD Professional Development Seminar will take place September 12, and provides an overview of the fundamental design objectives and the features needed to achieve those objectives for generic on-board diagnostics. This one day seminar, titled “Emissions-Related OBD Systems: A Design Overview”, is designed for engineers involved in either the design or control of on-board diagnostic systems for engines or transmissions. The course will also include the basic structure of an on-board diagnostic along with the system definitions needed for successful implementation. By attending this seminar, participants will learn more about the following topics:
• Fundamental Design Objectives for OBD Systems
• Basic Design Features for OBD Systems
• Defining "Good" vs. "Bad" Systems
• Exercise: Defining Good vs. Defective Systems
• Anatomy of an On-Board Diagnostic
• Diagnostic Modeling
• Understanding and Dealing with Variation
o Decision making processes
o Design guidelines for Exponentially Weighted Moving Averages (EWMA)
Heavy Duty OBD Update will take place on September 15 and will be presented by Mike Regenfuss of CARB. Mike Regenfuss has been involved in the development and support of OBD regulations for over 16 years. Previously as a manager in the OBD program, Mike oversaw enforcement testing and certification work. As a branch chief, Mike now oversees all aspects of the OBD II program for light-duty vehicles and the HD OBD program for heavy-duty vehicles including revisions to the regulations.
Technical Sessions will be held September 13-15, 2016 at Indianapolis Marriott Downtown in Indianapolis, Indiana, USA. These Technical Sessions, developed by industry professionals to maximize relevance, are designed to allow industry members of all levels the opportunity to gather timely, relevant, and stimulating information to enhance skills and creativity. Industry experts from General Motors, US EPA, Ford Motor Company, John Deere, Toyota, Cummins, Volkswagen of America, and more will share an expanded perspective on challenges, initiatives, and opportunities facing the OBD industry now and in the future.
Networking Breaks and Reception with Exhibits are great opportunities to foster collaboration and offer a break from the technical sessions and provide time to interact with peers and organizations whose focus is on the latest on-board diagnostics regulations and standards. Networking lunches with exhibits will take place on:
