Omnipress Launches CATALYST(TM), a New Online Abstract Management System Built Specifically for Conferences
Madison, WI (PRWEB) August 22, 2016 -- Omnipress, a company founded forty years ago to help associations collect and produce abstracts and proceedings for some of the world’s most prestigious conferences, unveiled its newly redesigned online abstract management system—CATALYST™-- at the American Society of Association Executives Annual Meeting & Expo in Salt Lake City, UT earlier this month.
While CATALYST features an even more intuitive, user-friendly interface and is built on an extremely flexible framework that makes it easier to configure for specific conference requirements, these features alone are not what makes this system truly unique.
Sean Lawler, Product Director of Digital Services at Omnipress who led the development of CATALYST notes that no other abstract management system has incorporated 15 years of speaker management and peer review best practices into the design process. “We didn’t simply develop a system that would perform faster or look more modern. We took into account our personal observations of how real people tend to use an abstract management system. We compared that to how it was intended to be used, and where we see users and customers running into the most issues. What you see in CATALYST is meant to minimize these issues.” CATALYST by Omnipress is one of the few systems built specifically for conferences, versus journal submissions or other types of data collection.
Jonny Popp, General Manager of Omnipress, is quick to point out that a faster, well-designed system is only part of the equation. “When it comes to abstract management, half the battle is how you use that technology—how you set up your collection site so that you as a meeting planner or program chair get exactly what you need both going in and coming out.” Adds Popp, “There are literally hundreds of different tools someone could use to collect data. But how do you easily get that data out of your system, in the format you need, for conference materials, for reporting? This is a huge pain point for meeting planners. And where our project managers add a tremendous amount of value when we set up your site.”
CATALYST, as the name suggests, is meant to serve as the place where the conference starts to come together. Once collection is complete and speakers are approved, Omnipress will pull your content out of the system, format it and produce your conference app, content website and printed materials.
“Our goal has always been to make the process of managing abstract, paper and speaker submissions as easy as possible,” states Lawler. Our latest abstract management system makes it even easier for our customers to run a collection process based on best practices.”
