Pet Preparedness Company Provides Vital Planning Services To Help Owners Ensure Their Pets Are Safe

It’s the least we can do for our pets who are always there for us ⎯ to make sure someone is always going to be there for them

More than 1,000 animals have been rescued during the recent unprecedented flooding in Louisiana, and animal shelters are struggling to accommodate the huge influx of displaced pets. With this alarming statistic serving as yet another reminder of how pets suffer during natural disasters, Help2Pet wants no pet to be left behind in FEMA’s National Preparedness Month (NPM) initiatives.

“Currently, there are no mentions of planning for pets and how important it is,” notes Jeff Kalish, Founder and CEO of Help2Pet. “With past disasters like Hurricane Katrina leaving 104,000 pets to fend for themselves, we want the American public to be better prepared with a backup plan so pets and owners can be reunited, or so someone will be equipped with the information they need to step in and take care of the pet until their owner can be located.”

Although 65 percent of households have at least one pet, surprisingly pets aren't included in this NPM initiative, despite the fact that they are significantly at risk of being stranded in the event of an emergency. From catastrophic events to the dog jumping the fence, Help2Pet bridges the gap between pet, owner and caregiver in the case of any emergency or unplanned absence. Help2Pet recognizes the importance of this national observance, as it closely aligns with its very own mission to help ensure that every pet owner has a comprehensive, practical plan to provide for their pet’s safety, no matter what the future brings.

Help2Pet is a cloud-based service working to eliminate the uncertainty and provide peace of mind for pet owners when the unexpected arises. With Help2Pet, the owner is able to create a comprehensive profile for their pet(s), detailing everything from pertinent medical information and feeding schedules to veterinary contacts, favorite toys, and unique details only they would know. In the case of an emergency or if a pet is separated from their owner, the Help2Pet team is ready to spring into action 24/7 by contacting pre-designated guardians and giving them the information they need to provide optimal care for the animals.

Help2Pet users are provided with window clings, wallet cards and key tags to alert others that they have a pet at home. If a pet gets displaced or separated from the owner, the Help2Pet collar tag will provide the good Samaritan or first responder with information they need to activate the emergency protocol plan.

“It is something everyone has a hard time discussing, but for the sake of our pets and the estimated 100,000 to 500,000 pets sent to shelters each year due to the lack of planning, we believe all pet owners should see the importance of having a backup plan,” says Kalish. “It’s the least we can do for our pets who are always there for us ⎯ to make sure someone is always going to be there for them.”
