Dental Care International Dental Surgery Assistant Program in Sri Lanka Begins New School Year
Las Vegas, NV (PRWEB) August 23, 2016 -- The new year of the Dental Care International (DCI) Dental Surgery Assistant (DSA) training program in Kandy, Sri Lanka begins this month. Co-founders, Mike PeQueen and Dr. Dawn McClellan, respected pediatric dentist in Las Vegas, NV, interviewed potential candidates during their last outreach program. Each student comes from children’s homes across Sri Lanka whose lives have been affected by war, poverty and abuse. Dr. McClellan and PeQueen understand the impact this opportunity can have on not only the new students, but their communities.
Girls who successfully graduate from the DCI dental care program will then become dental surgery assistants who have the opportunity to provide dental services throughout the country. Since most Sri Lanka residents have limited or no access to dental care, this program provides invaluable service to the area while helping young girls learn how to make a living and contribute to bettering their community. DCI also provides much needed oral care treatment to individuals in Las Vegas, NV and Cuenca, Ecuador. The goal of this caring non-profit organization is to make dental services accessible in some of the most neglected and disadvantaged areas of the world.
Since the DCI program was founded in 2001, volunteers and staff have treated more than 71,000 patients and donated more than $5 million in dental services around the world. The dental surgery assistant training program in Sri Lanka takes approximately one year to complete and gives girls who have little to no education an opportunity to transform their lives while simultaneously improving the lives of others through dental services. Once the students graduate from the program as dental surgery assistants, they will have the opportunity to find employment at clinics and hospitals across Sri Lanka.
PeQueen and Dr. McClellan, a trusted dentist in Las Vegas, NV, invites those who are interested in helping the Dental Care International program provide dental care to impoverished communities, to visit the DCI website and learn how they can volunteer or donate to this extraordinary cause.
