The Turbine Warming System (powered by PSI) integrates heated insulation blankets with a robust control system to maintain and monitor uniform heating across the steam turbine casing as an effective means of eliminating “cold” startup times and reducing both warm and hot startup times.
"The market is at an ideal time for the adoption of this turbine warming technology," noted a Cleantech semi-finalist judge. “The approach of focusing on peaking generation units, in areas with high consumption, is interesting and the business case for this technology improves with increased penetration of intermittent generation."

“Turbine warming blankets and control systems reduce warm turbine startup times by nearly 50% – an exciting value proposition for power generation units participating in the newly created, competitive spot market in Mexico,” notes Toralf Hey, Commercial Director of Biosolventus. “The reduction in start times has a significant impact on fuel burn and an associated reduction in emissions, maintenance costs and metal fatigue on turbine components – thus supporting the sustainability goals of the Mexican energy industry.”
Cleantech Challenge Mexico 2016 finalists have the chance to win several awards among which is a cash prize of $ 250,000 MXN for first place and more than 1 million pesos in prizes and the opportunity to receive investment from private equity funds with co-investment capacity of up to $ 30 million.
Final judging of the 2016 competition is Thursday, September 1, 2016 in Mexico City, Mexico.

Cleantech Challenge Mexico (CTCM) is a part of Global Cleantech Challenge, an international competition that promotes the internationalization of, and investment in, clean technology companies.
For seven years, Cleantech Challenge Mexico, supported by companies such as Banamex, AeroMexico, GreenMomentum, and ModuleSolar and multiple universities throughout Mexico, has identified the best clean technology ideas and systems within Mexico.
Winning companies must demonstrate how the technology minimizes the impact on the environment and has the potential to develop into a commercial enterprise.
