NETA's PowerTest 2017 Monday Training Sessions: Battery Testing, Medium-Voltage Circuit Breakers, and More
Portage, Michigan (PRWEB) August 25, 2016 -- NETA has gathered leaders in the industry for a full day of engaging 45-minute presentations sure to expand your thinking and generate new ideas. And Monday is just the first of five full days of the premier electrical maintenance and safety conference presented annually by NETA – The InterNational Electrical Testing Association. This year’s conference and exhibition runs February 27 – March 3, 2017, at the Disneyland Hotel in Anaheim, California.
Monday, February 27, is the official kickoff to PowerTest 2017. Here is a sneak peek at more of Monday’s highlights.
• Human Performance Best Practices in Electrical Safety
Studies by high-risk industries indicate that human error is often the root cause of incidents. This is certainly true in the electrical sector. Asking "why" multiple times to get to the true root cause of any electrical incident is an outstanding way to determine the corrective action plans. Annex U Human Performance and Workplace Electrical Safety, from CSA Z462 – 2015 Workplace Electrical Safety, was sent as a Public Input (PI) to the NFPA 70E - 2018 process and is expected to be a very good candidate for inclusion to that edition.
• Battery Testing by the Standards and Field Experiences
This paper summarizes and highlights the most important aspects of battery field testing in a simple and easy-to-follow document for three types of batteries (VLA, VRLA, and Vented NiCad). It provides quick reference tables derived from IEEE and NETA recommendations along with a comparison to the current mandatory testing requirements from NERC, and reviews what must be included in a battery maintenance program: the schedule, types of tests required, and specific procedures.
• Afternoon Symposium
Participate in the Medium-Voltage Circuit Breakers Symposium: An Industry Update. This symposium will focus on medium-voltage circuit breaker technology, both old and new, and provide insight and updates from medium-voltage circuit breaker subject matter experts.
• An Evening of Southern California Hospitality
Join your peers as a select group of PowerTest 2017 sponsors host suites featuring their own brand of hospitality from 6:00 PM – 10:00 PM.
