Mike Fowler, Validity Screening Solutions, will present at the AZ SHRM (Arizona Society for Human Resource Management) State Conference on the risks and compliance issues associated with using social media throughout the pre-employment process of recruiting and hiring.
While it may be quick and easy, there can be significant ramifications to using social networks in the employment screening or investigative process. “Social media is a provocative new tool for screening applicants,” said Fowler, “It offers insights not available through traditional mediums, such as resumes and CVs. Fowler’s presentation, “Compliance Issues that Impact HR’s Engagement in Social Media,” will highlight the risks involved when employers incorporate social media as part of the hiring process. Attendees can expect to learn how to define “Social Network Background Checks” as outlined by the Federal Trade Commission, how to avoid FCRA violations made when information is obtained from social media, and how to understand the EEOC’s view on social information impacting employment.
This presentation will be held at the Arizona SHRM State Conference August 31, 2016 at the Sheraton Grand at Wild Horse Pass in Chandler, Ariz. at 5:00p.
