Aegis Therapies and Concorde Career College Announce Graduates of Associate’s Degree Scholarship Program
FRESNO, Calif. (PRWEB) August 29, 2016 -- Aegis Therapies and Concorde Career College announced today seven scholarship recipients out of a total graduating cohort of 14 have completed the Occupational Therapy Assistant Associate’s Degree Program jointly developed by Aegis and Concorde. This is the second cohort completing this program since it was introduced to the area in 2012.
The graduation will be held at Piccadilly Inn on 2305 W. Shaw Ave. in Fresno, this evening, Aug. 29 at 6 p.m. Aegis Therapies President Martha Schram and Jim Thompson, Vice President of Program Development and Accreditation for Concorde Career College will attend and speak during the program.
The program was developed in response to a critical need for local education of Certified Occupational Therapy Assistants (COTAs), California currently has just four such programs. The scholarship program is particularly unique because it recruits current healthcare employees who have demonstrated the skill, interest and compassion needed to work well as a COTA. As part of this program, all seven scholarship recipients are provided employment as an Aegis therapist upon passing their occupational therapy certification exam to receive state licensure.
“We are pleased to participate in this program as it provides a valuable resource both to the community and to the patients Aegis serves,” said Schram. “We feel very fortunate to be able to support the development of individuals who are motivated to grow in this profession and Concorde has been an excellent partner in this initiative.”
