The Ohio Masonic Home announced on August 23 that Cornerstone Masonic Healthcare, LLC, their home health and hospice subsidiary, will discontinue community-based services operations, and that effective October 1, these services will be provided by Senior Independence, a wholly-owned subsidiary of Ohio Presbyterian Retirement Services (OPRS).

Cornerstone was started in 2000 as a faith-based home health agency, and was acquired by Masonic Senior Services of Ohio Corporation in 2008. Over the years, Cornerstone has grown and expanded their medical service offerings throughout the state of Ohio. Cornerstone began by serving three counties in West Central Ohio and now has the ability to serve more than 50 counties throughout West Central and Northeast Ohio combined.

Senior Independence and OPRS are headquartered in Columbus, Ohio. Established in 1980, Senior Independence is a leader in innovative, quality living services for adults. It is licensed to provide services in 48 counties throughout Ohio.

"We are proud to partner with and to serve the 90,000 Masons and the approximately 500 Masonic Lodges in Ohio," said OPRS President/CEO Laurence C. Gumina. "We believe both organizations were founded with similar missions, to provide caring and quality services to people in the place they call home."

"We're pleased to announce the relationship with another faith-based organization. We believe this partnership will expand both organizations’ ability to provide quality care to Masons and non-Masons alike," commented Scott Buchanan, Ohio Masonic Home CEO.

Since its incorporation in 1890, the Ohio Masonic Home has been a leader in providing outstanding housing, health care and services to individuals throughout the State of Ohio. The organization offers villas, independent apartments, assisted living, memory care expertise, state-of-the-art rehabilitation, post-acute, and skilled nursing services at its campuses located in Springfield, Waterville and Medina, Ohio. In addition, it operates a resource center that assists individuals on a nationwide basis, secure products, technology and in-home services to foster safety and independence.

Senior Independence, a wholly owned subsidiary of Ohio Presbyterian Retirement Services (OPRS), is one of Ohio’s premier providers of home health and hospice services recognized for quality, innovation, and a positive work environment. Statewide, Senior Independence provides services to more than 67,000 older adults and operates two adult day centers. OPRS is the largest and most experienced not-for-profit provider of continuing care retirement communities and services in Ohio.
