Connected hardware represents the next wave of what construction companies can achieve on the jobsite.

Throughout the years, the right hardware has allowed construction workers to do their jobs better. While traditional tools remain the backbone of construction, there’s no denying that hardware in the digital realm is proving to be the most powerful yet.

Recognizing these solutions that redefine what a tool can be, Constructech magazine is excited to unveil the winners of the 2016 Connected Hardware Award. The annual award celebrates a connected product that sets out to impact the construction industry in various ways, from productivity, security, project management, collaboration, and much more.

The editors at Constructech magazine received submissions from some of the most innovative developers emerging in the digital hardware market. Each product was judged on its unique ability to transform tasks done throughout all stages of a project.

“Connected hardware represents the next wave of what construction companies can achieve on the jobsite,” says Laura Black, editor, Constructech magazine. “This year’s winners demonstrate that hardware can combine the traditional tools of the past with smart technology of the future.”

This year’s winners are: the FLEXVAUT System from DEWALT, which is bringing safety to high voltage and high power tools, and the brand new Live Video on Demand platform from OxBlue, giving companies complete documentation of the entire construction process.

“The IoT (Internet of Things) is going to disrupt how construction conducts business,” says Peggy Smedley, editorial director, Constructech magazine and president of Specialty Publishing Co. “We will see smarter cities and infrastructure emerge, and the tools contractors use will deliver better projects today and in the future.”
