Department of Commerce’s approval further demonstrates our commitment to the safety and security of our website visitor and client data

doeLEGAL, a provider of legal technology solutions for corporate legal departments and law firms, recently met the numerous and stringent requirements to meet all standards for US-EU Privacy Shield. This new program replaces the now obsolete Safe Harbor certifications. Privacy Shield is in place to monitor and safeguard data transmitted to and between the European Union and the United States of America. doeLEGAL, Inc. has been officially recognized as successfully completing the application and review process which results in their addition to the list of approved companies on the Department of Commerce site.

The US-EU Privacy Shield’s primary goal is to offer assurances and security when data is transmitting between international borders and the EU. In summary, to be approved for Privacy Shield, the changes to a company’s privacy policy must be crafted to focus on how the digital data is collected, used, safeguarded, transferred, as well as how disputes are handled. Once approved by the Department of Commerce, the company’s name is officially recognized on their website list. doeLEGAL’s addition instills both credibility and confidence that international transmissions of client data and web visitor data are safe and secure. This was an imperative step to take in doeLEGAL’s eyes to ensure their foreign EU partners and clients have the confidence that their data security is a business-critical priority. The US-EU Privacy Shield finalized requirements all companies must meet can be found on the US Department of Commerce website.

Completing the US-EU Privacy Shield certification took the combined efforts of Marketing and IT to create the approved privacy policy and certification application. “One of our greatest strengths is the ability of our department heads to work together as a collaborative team to meet mission-critical demands such as this US-EU Privacy Shield documentation. Working closely together, we were able to swiftly receive the Department of Commerce’s approval and inclusion on their website listing. Their approval further demonstrates our commitment to the safety and security of our website visitor and client data,” stated Tom Russo, president and CEO of doeLEGAL.
