Seafood Expo Asia has released a sneak preview of some of the exciting, new and featured products that will be showcased at this year’s exhibition when it opens its doors on the 6-8 September 2016 at the Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre.

The event’s Product Showcase has established itself as a must-see area of the trade show floor providing industry buyers and retailers with an opportunity to discover the latest innovations in packaged seafood products, culinary dishes and condiments that are about to be introduced to the market in Asia. In addition to the newest products being launched on the Asian market, the Product Showcase will highlight exhibitors’ most prominent and finest products that have established themselves in their respective markets.

Always popular with visitors, the showcase display area has launched more than 220 new packaged seafood items to the marketplace over the last three years. Serving as an industry-wide launching point, numerous product launches are timed to coincide with the event, 2016 highlights of which include the following:

>> Boutargue Mullet Roe Salted and Dried (MEMMI)
An exquisite delicacy, Boutargue’s Mullet Roe is perfect on its own as a delicious appetizer, or shaved, grated or sliced to add the rich flavors of the sea to rustic breads, salads, pastas and risottos.

>> Oceanbella’s Authentic Nyonya Fish Otak-Otak (Cellmore (S) Pte Limited)
Oceanbella’s new, ready-to-cook Asian flavor sensation, Fish Otak-Otak, offers cooking simplicity and dine-at-home convenience, by bringing this great tasting, restaurant-quality Nyonya favorite to the family’s dinner table. It is an appetising fish paste mixed with an aromatic blend of fresh herbs and spices. Traditionally, the seasoned fish Pâté is grilled over banana leaves which infuse additional fragrance. Spicy and savoury, the Otak-Otak is wonderfully versatile. It can be enjoyed on its own, as a canapé with crackers or on toast, or even as an accompaniment to rice or noodles. It comes in three flavours – Red Snappers and Mackerel Fish Chunks; Prawn and Mackerel Fish Chunks; and the traditional Mackerel Fish.

>> Scored Crab Claws (Errigal Bay)
These scrumptiously cooked wild North Atlantic brown crab claws are handily scored to assist easy break up and fun, interactive dining. They are simply delightful warmed up in a pan, tossed and drizzled with garlic butter, or served cold in a salad with a spicy mayonnaise or flavorsome aioli.

>> Whole Ocean Clams (SeaWatch International)
Sea Watch Whole Ocean Clams are processed from the Ocean Quahog Clam (Arctica islandica). The foot muscle is taken away from the rest of the body meat and the belly cavity removed. This leaves the largest solid muscle of the clam. The clams are blanched and canned in a flavorful top off of juice. These clams come out of the can fully cooked and ready to use.

“According to a post-event survey conducted last year, more than 71% of buyers who attended the 2015 edition of Seafood Expo Asia found new products and suppliers for their business,” expresses Ms. Terri Tsang, Show Director for the exhibition’s organizers Diversified Communications.
