Singer / songwriter and mental health advocate Larissa Lam launches her national awareness campaign in support of Suicide Prevention Month titled #IFEELALIVE on the Love and Discovery blog. The program kicks off September 1st with the premiere of the first of three #IFEELALIVE PSAs focusing on prevention. The campaign partners with several national mental health organizations and features social media outreach and engagement as well as posts on the Love and Discovery Blog offering inspirational stories to empower the heart, soul and mind.
“This is a cause that touches me deeply. I’ve had friends who’ve died by suicide and people close to me who have attempted suicide,” said Ms. Lam. “It’s important to celebrate life and for people to know they are valued in this world.”
The first PSA #IFEELALIVE is a celebration of life geared toward reaching at risk individuals by encouraging them to explore the many ways to feel alive and how special each life is to family, friends, communities and more importantly themselves. The second PSA will premiere on Sept. 13 and is geared toward the Asian community where mental health issues have a strong stigma. The final PSA will run on Sept. 20th. All the PSA’s can be seen on YouTube and on the Love And Discovery Facebook, Instagram, and Twitter platforms.
Beginning on September 10, World Suicide Prevention Day, social media users around the globe will be encouraged to share videos and/or photos of what makes them feel alive on Instagram@LoveandDiscovery by tagging #IFEELALIVE as well as all the associated platforms.
The hub of the campaign is the Love And Discovery Blog, featuring spotlights on people making a positive impact on the world and a valuable resource for information on mental health issues. The blog has an accompanying self-titled soundtrack that chronicles Ms. Lam’s own journey through life’s challenges. “Having experienced depression and recovered from it, I hope I can encourage others through my blog and my music to not be defined by the darkness in our lives but to find our identity in light.” says Ms. Lam.
Larissa Lam is proud to partner with Didi Hirsch Mental Health Services, NAMI, The JED Foundation (JED), and No Stigmas to expand the campaign’s reach and create awareness of each organization’s vast resources. UTalk Radio is the official media partner for the #IFEELALIVE Campaign.
