Frank Perry Joins HNTB as Senior Connected and Autonomous Vehicle Program Manager
DETROIT (PRWEB) September 06, 2016 -- Frank Perry joined HNTB Corporation as senior connected and autonomous vehicle program manager. In this role, Perry will be responsible for all aspects of connected and autonomous vehicle systems planning, design, deployment and operations. He is based in the firm’s Detroit office.
Perry has 25 years of experience designing, deploying, testing, optimizing and operating wireless and wired communication networks, including 5.9GHz dedicated short-range communications connected vehicle networks. He also has 10 years of experience developing and implementing strategies for wirelessly connecting vehicles to each other and to external networks.
“Frank has been driving the development of standards enabling vehicle-to-vehicle and vehicle to-roadside communications since 2004 and will continue in that role moving forward for HNTB,” said Jim Barbaresso, HNTB practice leader Intelligent Transportation Systems and vice president. “This testing and subsequent implementation is critical to departments of transportation preparing for autonomous and connected vehicles to hit our roadways within the next five years.”
Prior to joining HNTB, Perry served as connected vehicle program director for another consulting firm. He also previously led the deployment and operations of the Michigan Connected Vehicle Testbed and was technical lead for Ford Motor Company on a joint project with other automotive manufactures and the U.S. Department of Transportation in researching the feasibility of deploying a national vehicle-to-vehicle and vehicle-to-infrastructure wireless communications architecture.

While at Ford Motor Company, he completed multiple certification programs in the firm’s Ford Technical Educational Program and Design for Six Sigma.
