Michael Gordon is different. He sees many Christians merely going through the motions of connecting closely with Christ, and winding up with what one might call a second-hand-store version of a relationship with their Saviour, a shadow and shallow life that is safely conventional but unfulfilling.
Mike’s dream of a life with Jesus is not the conventional version. He, like many deeply committed Christians, always wanted to have a strong direct and personal connection with Christ, one in which he can see Jesus working in the background of everyone’s life, bringing joy and bliss to them in every action of every day. Mike’s version is one that seeks to achieve an ecstatic personal religious relationship with his God.
This short and concise book reads like a blueprint to finding a more rewarding life by connecting directly with God. Quoting extensively from the scriptures, and starting each short chapter with sayings from both famous and anonymous people, Mike Gordon’s journey to self-knowledge and his commitment to a good life takes shape through anecdotes and reminiscences in which Christ has deeply affected the outcome of his and other’s lives. As the author suggests, the more you try to live the dream, the better things get.
And dreams and their interpretations play a huge role in informing this book, from friends who experience similar visitations during sleeping to those who share the dream of a better relationship with their God in their waking hours. In this account from a longtime practicing evangelist, it’s clear that Michael Gordon has achieved and is committed to sharing what he has learned in his close and rewarding relationship with Christ.
And the message may well be this: It’s not enough to merely dream about living more deeply; it’s deeply important to live one’s dream.
