Executive Chef Blake Hartwick to Participate in Chefs for Kids’ Cancer- The Carolinas

Executive Chef Blake Hartwick from Bonterra Dining & Wine Room will be joining celebrated chefs from the Carolinas along with 650 guests at The Fillmore Underground in Charlotte, NC for the 2nd annual Chefs for Kids' Cancer - The Carolinas. The event raises funds for childhood cancer research. The chefs will be preparing heavy hors d'oeuvres for individual guests while local bakeries will be creating cookies and treats.
The event was created by the organization Cookies for Kids’ Cancer. a national 501(c)3 non-profit committed to raising funds for research to develop new, improved treatments for pediatric cancer, the #1 disease killer of children in the U.S. “We provide inspiration and support for individuals, businesses and organizations to raise funds by hosting grassroots bake sales and other fundraising events.”
Chef Hartwick stated that the opportunity to be a part of this event and to play a small role in helping to change the face of childhood cancer – is “truly an honor. It’s a chance for me to contribute and help make a difference.”
As Executive Chef at Bonterra Dining & Wine Room, Chef Hartwick brings a modern spin on Southern Traditions using locally sourced ingredients from local farmers and purveyors. He is looking forward to sharing this with the guests at the upcoming Chefs for Kids’ Cancer.
About Chef Blake Hartwick:
Blake Hartwick is the Executive Chef of Bonterra Dining & Wine Room. Blake finds his inspiration in his Southern roots and embraces using fresh, local ingredients in his dishes. Blake brings a modern edge to Southern classics.
Chef Blake Hartwick’s culinary background includes working in several restaurants in Charlotte since moving to the city in 1993. During his career he has worked at Bistro 100, Carpe Diem and Sonoma, where he served as their sous chef. In 2000, he joined Bonterra Dining & Wine Room as executive chef. In 2005, John Duncan opened the Ratcliffe on the Green where Blake served as their executive chef. Chef Hartwick’s culinary career has taken him to Spain where he worked at the prestigious Casino de Madrid and NoDo. He also served as the Chef de Cuisine at the world renowned Four Star, Four Diamond Greenbrier Resort. Chef Hartwick returned to Bonterra Dining & Wine Room in 2014 as the Executive Chef.
Blake has also had the honor and privilege of cooking at the James Beard House once in 2012, as well as, in 2016. Chef Hartwick was invited to attend the James Beard Celebrity Chef Dinner in Palisades Virginia in April 2014 and has hosted the Celebrity Chef Tour dinner at Bonterra for the last two years.
Chef Blake also represents the Carolina Panthers at the Taste of the NFL each year and actively supports their mission of helping to fight hunger.
