Food science company completes one expansion and breaks ground on another facility.

Northland Laboratories has completed a major expansion to its Green Bay, Wisconsin facility. The newly expanded 12,000 square foot facility was designed to increase capacity for microbiology and chemistry testing services, include a new area for its expanding Proficiency Testing services, and integrate new automation equipment used for scalability of testing.

“The expansion builds on a new, more efficient process flow throughout our operations,” states D.J. Alwattar, President of Northland Laboratories. “With this added capacity, we have increased our throughput with a unique enterprising workflow process.”

In addition to the expansion in Green Bay, Northland Laboratories has broken ground on a new state-of-the-art food science center for its Chicagoland location. Located in Mt. Prospect, Illinois, the 33,000 square foot facility will house microbiology, chemistry, sensory, research and consulting services specific for the food and beverage industry.

“We’re excited for the growth opportunity afforded by the expansion of our Green Bay, Wisconsin location, and for the new facility in the Chicagoland area,” adds Alwattar. “This positions Northland Laboratories to service the needs of the food and beverage industry for the immediate and long term future.”

Completion of the Mount Prospect, Illinois facility is scheduled for early 2017.
