NAAMTA Presents Eagle III with Medical Transport Accreditation

Eagle III has achieved its second consecutive term of NAAMTA Accreditation. Demonstrating unparalleled partnership with area hospitals and County Rescue Services, Eagle III provides medical transport services that are focused on safety and best practices.

As a result of an independent, external audit of administrative documentation, medical practices, and facilities, Eagle III is being awarded accreditation for their rotor-wing program by the National Accreditation Alliance of Medical Transport Applications (NAAMTA).

Accreditation verifies that an organization meets or exceeds minimum standards of quality. The NAAMTA accreditation program is founded upon standards that focus on quality patient care and safety, while providing service-based consultative and educational processes, and established best practices. NAAMTA accreditation is recognized as a symbol of quality by industry peers, third-party payers, medical organizations, liability insurance companies, state and federal agencies and by the public.

The NAAMTA Accreditation Standards identify criteria in all aspects of medical transport, including business policies, licensure, education, skills maintenance, communication, safety, etc. Through the accreditation process, Eagle III demonstrated compliance to each of the defined standards and excelled in identifying best practice procedures. NAAMTA verified their compliance through employee interviews, on-site evaluations, and process reviews, all of which were conducted using ISO 9001:2008 auditing guidelines.

In speaking of the accreditation process, Shaun Stamnes, Eagle III’s Air Medical Coordinator said, “The NAAMTA re-accreditation process was a very smooth and stress free event. Completing this process reaffirmed why we chose NAAMTA for our accreditation.”

As an accredited organization, Eagle III is a participating member of the NAAMTA Alliance. This alliance unifies accredited organizations in the vanguard of continuous improvement through the sharing of education, experiences, and the skills of each member working to improve patient care and cultivating an environment of safety.

NAAMTA is an accreditation standard-bearer for the medical transport industry, offering procedures that include guidelines for developing a system focused on transport safety, patient care, quality management, and continuous improvement. NAAMTA is globally recognized for its ISO 9001:2008 QMS certification and the implementation of quality practices in their accreditation program. NAAMTA’s certified quality management system is audited annually by PRI Registrar which is an ANSI-ASQ National Accreditation Board-approved Registrar accredited to certify organizations to a variety of management systems including ISO 9001.

NAAMTA has successfully made great strides in identifying key best practices to improve the standard of performance among EMS providers at the national and global levels. Through a dynamic approach to auditing and a vast array of web-based reporting and learning tools for members, NAAMTA distinguishes itself as an accreditation source interested in providing services to their members and work toward the improvement of medical transportation practices.

About Eagle III

The EAGLE III flight program was formed in 1996 as a result of County Rescue Services, St. Vincent Hospital, and Bellin Hospital recognizing the need for a safe and rapid means of transporting medical patients throughout Northeastern Wisconsin. Today, EAGLE III is a comprehensive air and ground medical transportation program providing the best level of care to suit the patient's needs, from Basic Life Support up to a full Critical Care Team.

The EAGLE III program participates in a number of different types of medical transports including inter-facility transports, helicopter scene responses in remote areas where ground time would be extensive, and specialty team transports, which may include a neonatal or pediatric nurse and nurse practitioner.
