Sage Media Wins Brandon Hall Excellence Award for Metals USA Management Training Film
Denver, Colorado (PRWEB) September 22, 2016 -- Sage Media, a media production and consulting firm that creates high-quality learning videos, was recently named a Brandon Hall Group HCM Excellence Award winner for the best use of video for learning. The company received the award for "First-Level Leadership," a 30-minute training film created for Metals USA, a leading provider of value-added metal processing and inventory management services.
The film is a critical component of the Metal USA’s proprietary leadership program for new managers and supervisors. Through realistic, three-dimensional characters and the artistic presentation of company-specific workforce scenarios, the film illustrates how management style and practices impact team performance and morale.
“An important goal of our talent development strategy was to create resources that engaged learners and inspired successful leadership behaviors,” said Randy Lapp, director of corporate HR and talent management for Metals USA. “Sage Media worked with us to create a story that takes learners through a manager’s transition to leadership and depicts challenges and risks typically encountered by new leaders. The experience provides a rich context for discussing management-related challenges and demonstrating different approaches leaders can take to be more effective.”
“Our research shows that the more engaged people are in a story, the more susceptible they are to changes in behavior,” says Richard Fleming, co-founder of Sage Media and director of the training film. “We’re proud that the film looks and feels more like an indie film than a regular training video.”
“We are thrilled to win this award in our first year of operation,” said Austin Welch, co-founder of Sage Media and executive producer of the training film. “It validates our approach to learning media and proves that our experience in dramatic storytelling provides a much-needed advantage for engaging corporate audiences.” "First-Level Leadership" was Sage Media’s second film project for Metals USA.
“Our learning research shows that when done well, video can be highly effective,” said Rachel Cooke, chief operating officer of Brandon Hall Group. “As with all Excellence Award winners, Sage Media had to demonstrate that its work is having measurable business impact.” Brandon Hall Group will recognize all award winners at its 2016 HCM Excellence Conference, January 24-27, at the PGA National Resort in Palm Beach Gardens, FL.
