Portfolio Wins Gold and Silver Medals at International Spirits Competitions

John Distilleries Ltd. (JDL), one of the world’s leading specialists in the creation and production of Indian distilled beverages, announces top scores and awards at three prestigious international spirits competitions. Paul John Indian Single Malt Whisky expressions earned Gold and Silver awards at the World Whisky Masters and the Luxury Spirits Masters, a part of the Global Spirits Masters competitions. In addition, each of the Paul John Indian Single Malt Whisky expressions were also awarded Silver in the 47th International Wine and Spirit Competition (IWSC), dedicated to grant recognition to wines and spirits worldwide and supporting appreciation for quality products.

Hosted by The Spirits Business, the Global Spirits Masters includes a series of blind tasting competitions and commits to using independent judges. Paul John Indian Single Malt Whisky Edited dominated the Single Malt Premium category and won the Gold medal. The Bold, Brilliance, Classic Select Cask and Peated Select Cask were awarded Silver in the World Whisky Masters competition. Paul John’s Bold, Brilliance and Peated Select Cask received Gold awards in the Luxury Spirits Masters, which only recognizes super-premium and ultra-premium spirits.

“As an Indian single malt, we’re very excited that Paul John Whisky has been so well received on the international stage,” said Paul P. John, chairman of Paul John Indian Single Malt Whisky. “Having only recently launched in the U.S. market this year, we are looking forward to continued exposure and success.”

The Global Spirits Masters is comprised of 15 separate series of blind tasting competitions to ensure each spirit category receives equal attention from the specialized judges. This year, the World Whisky Masters competition incorporated a panel of nine expert judges, including luxury spirits writers and general managers of top global spirits bars. New to the Global Spirits Masters, the Luxury Spirits Masters included a panel of five expert judges. Paul John Whisky was one of the only whiskies outside of Scotland to be recognized in this super-premium competition.

This year the IWSC Spirits category recorded a 17 percent increase in entries and received submissions from nearly 30 countries worldwide, which were judged by global experts. The IWSC Spirits Category panel incorporated 17 spirits writers, global ambassadors and master blenders. The esteemed panel judges entries over a period of seven months and uses a ‘double blind’ judging method to ensure judges never see the bottles. The second stage of judging analyzes the detailed chemical analysis of the alcohol and sugar content of entrants.

In addition to the continued success at spirits competitions, the Paul John Whisky product line continues to command the attention of the nation after its recent launch in the U.S.
