Total Solutions Incorporated brings SharePoint Saturday back to Detroit after two-year hiatus

Total Solutions Incorporated hosted the 2016 SharePoint Saturday Detroit this past Saturday, September 17th from 8:00 am – 4:00 pm at Wayne State University. Saturday marked the first time since 2014 that the event was held in Detroit, and was well received by all. SharePoint Saturday was created in 2009 as a free event where SharePoint users of any level could learn and grow in their careers.

"SharePoint Saturday is a special event that brings together experts and beginners to learn about Microsoft's powerful collaboration tools." said Matthew Fleszar, CEO of Total Solutions. "85% of Fortune 500 companies have SharePoint, but everyday users often have a large knowledge gap on best practices and capabilities. SharePoint Saturday closes that gap by building connections that persist long after the event is over."

Over 200 people were present at the event to attend subject area tracks related to SharePoint and related programs. Speakers included Microsoft MVPs, SharePoint thought leaders, and local SharePoint consulting and product vendors. They spoke on an array of topics that ranged from “An Introduction to SharePoint” to “Using SharePoint as a platform for Application Development.” Keynotes from the event included Eric Harlan, the Global Co-Manager of all SharePoint Saturday events and a Senior Premier Field Engineer at Microsoft, and Frank Riviera, from the Office of Strategy and Development at Quicken Loans and the family of companies.

Total Solutions plans to reinstate SharePoint Saturday as an annual occurrence, given the turnout and feedback from this year’s event. They are also working with other local SharePoint partners to revive the Detroit SharePoint User Group, on November 8th from 6:00 – 8:00pm at the Microsoft Offices in Southfield.

"I'm very pleased with the success of SharePoint Saturday," said Fleszar. "We look forward to hosting this important event again next year."

Sponsors for SharePoint Saturday include: Total Solutions, C/D/H, DocAuto, Atrio, New Horizons, K2, Metalogix, Rightpoint, Mindsharp, Coretek Services, Rencore, RCM Technologies, RecordLion, KWizCom, Sharegate, Hyperfish, and Turtleworks.
