Laurence Belkoff, DO, FACOS, urologic surgeon, received the Distinguished Osteopathic Surgeon Award from the American College of Osteopathic Surgeons (ACOS) on September 23, recognizing his accomplishments as a surgeon, educator and researcher. This makes Belkoff the only physician to win both this award and the Orel F. Martin Medal, the highest award bestowed by the ACOS. He received the Martin Medal in 2014.

“I am extremely honored to receive this award,” Belkoff says. “My goal is always to blend education, research and patient care in ways that provide the best possible outcomes and quality of life.”
The award recognizes Belkoff “for an outstanding career of surgical care and for being a leading change-agent, allowing us to continually improve the practice of osteopathic medicine,” says ACOS president Dawn Tartaglione, DO, FACOS. “Belkoff has lead ACOS projects that will benefit our patients, physicians and organizations well into the future.”
The award was presented at the 2016 Annual Clinical Assembly of Osteopathic Surgeons on September 23. Belkoff has served the ACOS as president and a member of the Board of Governors.
