The Galena Lead Rush Half Marathon Turns Over a New Leaf
Galena, IL (PRWEB) September 28, 2016 -- The Galena Lead Rush Half Marathon is one of the Midwest's most challenging half marathons, featuring unique terrain and beautiful autumn scenery, and it's in new hands as of early 2016. The Galena/Jo Daviess County Convention and Visitors Bureau (CVB) has sponsored the event since November 2011 at Chestnut Mountain Resort in Galena, IL. "We are moving away from the event planning business and headed towards investing in the communities we serve," according to Katherine Walker, the executive director at the CVB. Walker states that they've already invested $15K into tourism-related events in Jo Daviess County in 2016 so far.
The CVB is happy to announce that the Galena Arts & Recreation Center (Galena ARC) is the new sponsor of the Galena Lead Rush Half Marathon. For 45 years the ARC has worked to provide Jo Daviess County families art, sports, fitness, child care, and educational programming second to none. The profitable Lead Rush Half Marathon will help them continue their mission and promotes a positive, active lifestyle message to the community.
In order to advertise and organize the event to the level they are expecting, the Galena ARC will not be having a race in November 2016, but will resume in 2017. Both organizations would like to thank the competitors and spectators for their patience as they each take on new challenges.
Chestnut Mountain Resort continues to be a top Fall destination with it's views of the Mississippi River, Soaring Eagle Zipline, Segway Tours and more. Find information at galena.org.
