When Sameer Chaudhry M.D. and Khalid Khan M.Med., MRCOG, MSc, FCPS, MBBS, FRCOG, FHEA first published their paper in the British Medical Journal’s Evidence Based Medicine, the dating industry was dazzled by the presented science-backed guidelines and strategies for successful online dating. From coming up with the right username to choosing which color to wear in one’s profile photo, the paper offered a comprehensive and followable guide to online dating. The “Clueless, Dateless, Loveless” book followed its predecessor a year later in February 2016, offering this same guide to the general public in an easy-to-read, layman’s format excluding the scientific jargon. Well-received, this book would go on to win the first annual United States Dating Award for the Dating Book of the Year 2016.
Seven months after the book was published, the Dating Awards, begun in the UK, were introduced to the United States with the first annual United States Dating Awards (USDA). Popular dating authority, Founder, and CEO of The Dating Awards Charly Lester begun the awards in the UK in 2014. After being asked repeatedly by fans of her blog, The 30 Dates Blog, which websites or applications she would recommend, she decided to create a method for providing those answers in an unbiased fashion in the form of the Dating Awards. Dating websites, applications, books, and experts in the dating industry, whether professional or amatuer, are all eligible to enter for a number of awards, including the Dating App of the Year, the Online Dating Brand of the Year, and the Dating Expert of the Year just to name a few. This year’s USDA’s Dating Book of the Year, Chaudhry and Khan’s “Clueless, Dateless, Loveless” was judged against many other influential and popular dating books, including “Date-Onomics” by writer and speaker Jon Birger and “Modern Romance” by comedian Aziz Ansari and Sociology Professor Eric Klinenberg. Lester commented, “The judging panel loved “Clueless, Dateless, Loveless” because it was informative, well-researched, and presented the dating industry in a positive, yet realistic and helpful way.”
