Austin Companies Conquer the Fit Company Challenge and Promote Employee Wellness to the Business Community
Austin, Texas (PRWEB) September 28, 2016 -- On September 10, 2016 over 500 participants from companies located in the Austin area took part in the Fit Company Challenge, a corporate wellness event hosted by the Fit Company Institute providing area companies an opportunity to show the importance of living a fit and healthy lifestyle. Participants worked in teams of 3 to 4 towards completing a variety of fitness stations tailored to challenge the team member’s current fitness level and earn points towards their company’s overall score.
For the 2nd year in a row, Luminex took the top spot in the Large Team division. “The Fit Company Challenge provides a great opportunity to showcase the drive and competitiveness of our excellent employees,” said Nancy Fairchild, Sr Vice President, Human Resources. “At Luminex, our Company values include Respect, Trust and Execution which were all needed to deliver the win! Our products improve health around the world and our employees value the importance of being fit and ready to handle this challenge. The leadership team is very proud of the success of our competitive team as well as every employee who supported the team on and off the field. Thank you to the Fit Company Challenge group for coordinating such a great event.”
Right behind Luminex was Forcepoint LLC who placed 2nd in the Large Team Division in their first time participating in the Fit Company Challenge. “The Austin Fit Company Challenge is a great way to support healthy living activities while also furthering camaraderie among our employees in a fun and unique setting,” said Sharon McCandlis, Forecpoint Team Captain and Accounts Receivable Manager. “We loved the challenge of competing against all the exceptional companies in the Austin area, and we’re looking forward to coming back even stronger next year!”
Wentwood Companies took the top spot in the Medium Team division, and their team captain Jessica Armel, was thrilled to get another top finish in their 2nd year participating in the event. “The Fit Company Challenge is a great event that our company looks forward to. Our employees, at all levels of fitness, love coming out and competing. It gives us a chance to build better relationships with our co-workers and encourages everyone to be more physically fit. Our participation grows each year and we are already looking forward to competing in 2017!"
In Kasasa’s first time participating in the challenge, the company fielded 3 strong teams and took the top spot in the small team division. From Kasasa's team captain Angela Vega, “When there are events like this that really bring together companies into teams where they can remove themselves from the workplace, get sweaty, get to know each other, but also support each other in their health and fitness goals it’s really important to take part. The Kasasa teams killed it this year and did a really great job!”
On event date, with the help of over 50 volunteers assisting the contenders, participants challenged their strength, conditioning, power, agility, and ended with a test of endurance in order to show their companies and colleagues that they practice what they preach. Participants used their involvement to bring out company team members, and family members to cheer them on and promote the importance of having fun and effective corporate wellness programs at their companies.
The challenge was held at Zilker Park right outside downtown Austin, Texas and included over 500 participants across 30 companies.
