QCT Launches QxStack Microsoft Windows 2016 Cloud-Ready Appliances
Atlanta, Georgia (PRWEB) September 27, 2016 -- Microsoft Ignite—Quanta Cloud Technology (QCT), a global leader in hyperscale cloud and hyperconverged infrastructure, introduces QxStack Microsoft Windows Server 2016 Cloud Ready Appliances. The appliances, along with Microsoft Windows Server 2016 software-defined datacenter (SDDC) technologies inspired by Microsoft Azure, help customers create a more flexible, faster-to-value and innovative datacenter.
The announcement and the launch of the Windows Server 2016 platform was made today at Microsoft Ignite in Atlanta, which runs through September 30.
Today’s datacenter operations are facing new challenges, from handling more data traffic driven by new applications, to security and limited budgeting that constrain IT resources. Windows Server 2016 can balance IT responsibilities and allow enterprises to innovate faster in order to compete effectively.
QCT QxStack Microsoft Cloud Ready Appliances integrate all of Microsoft Windows Server 2016 SDDC technologies—software-defined compute, storage and networking virtualization, flexibility and scalability—into a hyper-converged cloud appliance. These pre-installed, pre-configured and optimized modular appliances are easy to use, cloud ready and scalable from four nodes to 16 nodes in the same cluster to handle a variety of enterprise virtualization workloads.
QCT is currently undergoing validation on these appliances as required by the Windows Server Software-Defined (WSSD) Program. WSSD is a Microsoft program that enables solution vendors to design and validate hardware and deploy Windows Server 2016 software-defined infrastructure in a way that follows Microsoft requirements and best practices.
High-performance storage systems are critical to meet the performance of most business applications. The Azure-inspired, software-defined storage capabilities in Windows Server 2016 use policies and automation to reduce costs and add scale.
The QCT appliance lineup builds a Microsoft Windows Server 2016 Software Defined Storage features stack on the ultra-density configuration that offers 16 hot-swappable disks in a 1U form factor for workloads that demand high capacity, such as Microsoft Exchange and Microsoft SharePoint, as well as data warehousing. For OLTP, VDI, IaaS and Data Warehouse workloads, QCT also offers NVMe cache tier with high-capacity SATA SSDs and HDDs for a blend of high performance and capacity. High availability is made possible due to the appliance having no single point of failure from the hardware layer to fabric management. The product also offers excellent value with the highest density, best price and best performance available.
Mike Yang, senior vice president of Quanta Computer and president of QCT, said, “QCT has made a big commitment to software-defined and hyperconverged solutions for our customers. As a result, we now offer our clients the most diverse lineup of pre-integrated cloud hardware and software solutions, all ready to deploy and backed by the most trusted names in enterprise computing. QxStack Microsoft Windows Server 2016 Cloud-Ready Appliances are the latest example of our ongoing and in-depth collaborations with these industry leaders.”
“Windows Server 2016 and System Center 2016 offer our most cloud-ready server operating system and management solution ever, with exciting new innovations to help customers transform applications for the cloud, build a software-defined datacenter with cloud efficiencies, and keep IT safer than ever. The complementary solutions and services from our partners are what truly bring the innovations to life for our customers as they transform their IT solutions for a cloud-first world,” said Erin Chapple, general manager, Program Management for Windows Server, Microsoft Corp.
